Angry really strange problem

so im sitting on my computer one day (about a week ago) and my computer just restarts itself for no apparent reason? so when it comes time for windows to load up the screen pops up asking how i would like to load windows... safe mode, safe mode with networking, command prompt, last known good config settings, or start normally... so i say wierd but go start normally... before the windows loading screen comes up my computer restarts itself again.
so when it asks me how i want to load windows again i chose last known good settings... it restarts again... asks me how i want to load again i choose safe mode finally and when it shows you the .dll's and the .sys's loading it restarts right after Mup.sys

so i think its a hd problem i shut down my computer (with the power button) and then i take my hd out and plug it in as a secondary hd on my friends comptuer (running the same os as me [win xp pro sp1]) so i go into the windows/system32/drivers/ folder and copy the Mup.sys from his computer (running normally) to mine to try and fix the error. i then plug my hd back into my computer (after shutting his down blah blah blah) and it didnt even change the problem. so im still thinking its a hd problem and i plug my hd into his computer again and i go into his computer management disk management program format my drive (after backing up a few select files) and reinstall windows on it (i would have just fromated with the windows cd but i didnt have one at the time) anyways i kudnt get my computer to load windows on my hd so i did it on my friends computer and after i have windows successfully installed and it runs fine on my friends computer i put the hard drive back in my computer and start it up now it still comes up with how woiuld i like to load windows and i pick normally and it first loads a bar across the bottom of the screen and when it gets to the end of loading it apparently freezes... so i resart my computer and try it in safe mode and it just freezes now (instead of restarting) after Mup.sys is loaded.

apparently this is no hd error but im thinking an error with my motherboard?
i have no idea how to deal with this problem besides buying a new hd and probably new processor and probably new ram which i can barely afford right now so if anyone could help me fix my problem i would be greatly appreciative

when im loading windows in safe mode here is what it says "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\Syste m32\Drivers\Mup.sys" thats where it freezes

thats all the info i can think to give at this time ill try to check the forum to see if i have any replies every half hour or so or if u dont want to wait for me to see it you can message me on AIM at fiftyhero760 thanks

-van

Look at this link and see what this guy did:

It's never a good idea to load OS on a hard drive and transfer it to another system...

cheers

Yes format it from your friends drive and then reinstall the OS on your own computer. But if you had a 98 boot floppy you could format itself.

But do it how you prefare.
