has anybody tried changing the text where the start button is????
Hi all,
i downloaded the little tutorial from this site on how to change the text where the start button is but when i tried to do it, it didn't work.
has anybody had any success with this.
this is the tutorial.

You used to be able to do it by hex editing user32.exe, but I'm not sure if that still works. Also, whatever you change it to can only be 4 characters.

i wonder why only 4 characters if the start button has 5 characters.

Have you figured out how to get rid of the flag (or change it)? It's under Bitmap/143/1033. Open your modified explorer.exe with Resource Hacker and go to the actions tab, down to replace bitmap, open that then pick the bmp you want to change and pick the new bmp and save again.

I use a program called styleXP by TGTsoft. You can get all kinds of themes too.....really neat ones.
