Problem I seem to be having is I use remote desktop to remote into this box as I have a little network at home. There hasn't been a problem with that but since Feb I'll get home from work and try to remote into the box and I won’t be able to connect. Then I go and check the computer and the screen will be dead(shut off) when I try to power the monitor back up it starts to power up and then shortly shuts back down. Almost like the system is putting it to sleep. So the only way I could trouble shoot this issue was to power cycle the box and then everything comes up fine. Then I checked the event log and this was the only unusual entry. Not sure if this is the problems. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

there should be four of these on your drive,
C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB826939$
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
these were added by service pack1 and are 1,995 kb

C:\WINDOWS\system32
C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386
these came with the orriginal windows installation and are 1,881

as for which one is corrupt i cant tell from what you have posted. if you have the xp cd, you can drop it in the cd drive, close the welcome screen, go to start>run>type
sfc /scannow
should replace the orriginal versions. if you gan copy one of the others froma healthy xp machine with sp1, just drop the new one in the folder above and click ok to replace, reboot, see if you are fixed up.

crash/reset

I've been experiencing a crash with hard reset of my computer lately. The only error I get in the event log besides the dump is the same one as above, just before the crash dump in the logs. It usually happens while I am video conferencing, but has happened at other times. the only other information is that when it does dump information to MS and MS has a track on it, it calls it a device driver problem but doesn't say which device.

I'll try the fix you recommended, but would like to know a little more about this error. What causes it? What that program does?

I have had a faulty ntoskrnl.exe cause my computer to lock up a few times. The following has got me back in business. May help with other things.
I have put a folder on my C: drive (krnl), and copied a good ntoskrnl.exe to it.
Go to http://www.mirrors.org/archived_sof...iles/xpboot.exe
Download xpboot, put an empty Floppy Disk in drive and Click xpboot. Name it something you will remember. Start with the disk in the drive. It changes the letter on your CD drives, and shows you what they are on the first screen. Write them down so you remember. (Mine are R & S). (Enter) At A:\> prompt type, (space after copy, space after .exe).
copy C:\krnl\ntoskrnl.exe C:\windows\system32
(Enter)
If asked to overtype, type y, (Enter). Do Ctrl, Alt, Delete to Boot.
If you can get someone to Burn ntoskrnl.exe from Windows\system32 to a CD, put it in the drive and you can substitute your new CD drive letter for the first C:, and leave off krnl\.
Hope this helps someone. Sure helps me.
