Logging Into XP Pro

When I enter my password in XP Pro it takes about 1 minute or more for the desktop to appear. I installed some "fine tune" utility that optimizes your computer like start up etc... I've uninstalled it since.
Since then its taking ages for the desktop to appear after loggon.
Any suggestions??
I've tried the "Disable All" feature under "Run/MSCONFIG/Start Up" but to no avail.

Cheers

Try a system restore to the point before you loaded the software. then run MSCONFIG. then find a copy of cleansweep or something like that. then find a copy of spybot search and destroy. You might a program that is running and taking alot of resousres at the start up. Good Luck.

No that didn't work. I've tried EVERYTHING now at this stage, is there any files that are a MUST when XP is loading?

Since every computer is configured differently, it's difficult to say exactly which items are absolutely necessary to load on startup.

You can go to this Answers That Work page and look up each item listed in msconfig's startup list to determine which your computer needs.

I usually find if I have backed up all my stuff just to Format and start again. Of course that is always a last resort
