Possible XP - Java script problem

The problem shows itself when I log onto, for example, the ebay website. On the top left hand of the page an error message shows itself which also comes with the inability to fully loadup the ebay website. This message is as follows inside quotation marks"...":

"_functions.js">" and....

I am thinking that this is a Java script error related to Xp itself becasue I also downloaded Netscape and the same problem occured. Furthermore, the Internet explorer tells me that I have errors related to "'globals' is undefined"; "Object Expected" and "unterminated string constant".

If anyone can help me I would be much obliged.
Thanks
-Blackford.

Do you have any popup stopper programs running and do you have a firewall?

I would shut it down for a test. There have been instances here where firewalls and popup stoppers have caused similiar problems to yours.
You could try checking task manager to see exactly what is running and shutting down applications one at a time.
Always do an online virus scan and run adaware and spybots search and destroy to eliminate other possible sources of grief.

Thanks for your help.

I shut off the firewall and the same problem persisted. I am not sure what to do from here. I am thinking that there is a problem in the contol panel in regards to xp/java compatability.
