Problems With Microsoft Windows

Everytime I open up Microsoft word, there are these "L" boundaries on the page. I really want to remove them, but have not found out how to. I think they may have somehting to do with boudaries or page setup. Could anyone please tell me how to? Here's kind of how it looks.

check you tab settings, for some reason they are set to display on the page. i dont have word on the computer i am using at the moment to tell you exactly how to get there and what to do.
