dll error

receiving error "00000971.exe EGNSEngine.dll missing"
this exe is held in C/windows/prefetch any ideas the function of this folder and exe

EGNSEngine.dll is a library used by Gator....Known spyware.
Presumably, you have uninstalled a program that installed this as well.
From the run dialog, type "msconfig" Click the startup tab and remove any references to Gator, or that DLL. (A registry cleaner is not a bad idea either.)
Prefetch is a list of files that are collected together to allow faster booting. the file reference is still there when the program has gone. Not a problem.
