When i dial up to internet, it works, but there is no sound, all other sounds work.

When i dial up to internet, it works and i connect, but there is no sound, all other sounds work fine.
Can anyone help????  |

yes the dialing sound, all web sites with sound are fine, all other sounds on my computer are fine, just when i dial up, and you should here that strange noise that sounds like an old zx spetrum loading, I here nothing...

I wouldn't worry too much about it, maybe the modem's volume is set to down or something. If it doesn't affect your internet connection its prob harmless

It is needed
As my son has been on lots of game sites, we looked at the phone bill once, and it seems that he pressed yes to dial up to a server that charges per minuet, and the computer dialed up, conected and he did not know of it... i have tried the volume on the modem with control panel, any other ideas???

What sort of modem do you have? An internal (PCI) or External?

I saw a tweak at tweakxp.com which disables the sound of the dialup
had i had dialup - i would make sure i couldnt hear that sound
sorry-youll have to look for it yourself there -do the reverse

As for the PCI, don't worry, if its internal then its most like a PCI card.
