File System Corruption

when i install windows updates, it takes forever!!

like a few hours (about 5)
so i dont do windows update anymore.

is there something wrong with my hard drive? is it a file system corruption? should i re-format??

what should i do??

Try running Disk Cleanup to clear a few old files. Also download Windows Washer from Here: http://www.webroot.com/php/tryme.php...060&vcode=DT01

Thats always gives your system a good clean.

i thought windows washer was a program to clear pop-ups?? oh well, i'll try it,

please respond if there anything else i should do..

i've heard of it, i just dont know how or where to start it at..

Disk Cleanup is in the Start Menu:

Start > Accessories > System Tools > DISK CLEANUP

by the words "DISK cleasnup" does that mean it'll erase everything on my drive?

i dont want to do that, lol

what exactly would you say disk cleanup does?

No mate it only Deletes Temp Files and old things in your Recycle Bin. Nothing to worry about mate

hey thanks much! im glad you could help, lol

but will this fix my file system corruption problem?? i did everything u told me, i downloaded a full version of window washer from bearshare, and i did a disk cleanup.

will this be all i need to do?

i was wondering about norton's windoctor

should i use it?? reply's wold be much loved

I would give Win Doctor a go it wont do it any harm.

I use it after a fresh install of XP and it still finds errors to fix. Its a pretty good program
