Flash drive stores less data than capacity

Cause: This is a common problem with most cheap Flash drives. Though they are advertised as 512 MB and show up as 512 MB in the system, they have a bad memory chip that doesn’t allow copying of data more than 256 MB.

Solution: Don’t take chances with Flash memory. Buy a Flash drive only from a reliable and known manufacturer.
