Classic Win2000 Search in XP

Open regedit and navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState

Add a new string (REG_SZ) called "Use Search Asst" - set the value to "no" and you will have the classic win2000 search. You dont even have to reboot!

(TweakUI for XP does this ą la GUI style)
