1. Create a shortcut to the Internet Explorer executable and place it on the desktop or quick launch area.

2. Right click the shortcut and select Properties.

3. Change the "target" value to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome

This worked great! I used this tip to modify the regedit entry: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}shellOpenHomePageCommand Now my desktop IE icon opens without a home page, and I didn't need to create a shortcut (with an ugly shortcut arrow across the icon) to do it :)!

This is a great tip. It speeds up the process of starting IE. (I didn't edit my shortcut, I created two shortcuts next to each other, so I have the option.)
