I would like 2 inform u guyz that these tweaks...... HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvancedFolderHiddenSHOWALL and modify CheckedValue to 1 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvancedFolderHiddenNOHIDENCheckedValue = 0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvancedFolderHiddenSHOWALLCheckedValue = 2 my problem is solved WoRk only if ur system is clean i.e. there are no viruses.....if u face problem where ur values keep changing to 2 then u r in some trouble......i faced d same problem and i tried almost everything 2 solve it nd i hv found that only KASPERSKY Internet security(I hv used d trial version) is able 2 detect it and delete it.....u cant heal the file in any case... These viruses are undetected by Bitdefender 2008, Spysweeper, Zone alaram, mAc Affe, AVG, Avasat...etc. Now...if u r thinking of formatting just think again coz if u r having mor than one hardisks connected to ur comp then there is a possibility that after formatting when u connect ur second harddisk the virus comes 2 ur first hard disk. I would only suggest first scan comp with KASPERSKY then change the reg values...ur problem will be solved

good one, if you may want not to allow this option NOT to work for a particular user (eg if you dont want your child to watch your hidden porn stuff ;) on your pc), logon to the pc with user kid's login name and change the same value under HKEY_Current_User (even though if he's an admin account) and he can never see the hidden files whereas you can with your login id. HKCU entry over-rides the HKLM entries!

Well i had this problem for three days.... I tried the registry override thingy but it somehow managed to reset the registry setting.... So i kindof figured it was bcoz of a virus One of the most common ways to spread virus is through autorun So i checked if there was any autorun.inf file in my hard disk But since i cant view my hidden files so i used the command prompt to see the file. Step 1: type "cmd" in Run Step 2: Type these commands > cd > dir a*.inf /a Now u can see the autorun.inf file > edit autorun.inf ;oL74j5wcs2rkw2S53jrliraKd6srAw2sKA3824105kKlqs33XS0oDsqowl9rwl [AutoRun] ;4siapjw4Dss3D80jjs3rKKkw2Al7rDad open=x.com ;mpaF3AkDI2KK5awial3lK43w4Dl3JesLKrj0iL9DcsSo9waO2349wdlk0djs4D1k5LsSwa5 shellopenCommand=x.com ;8lkakfo431kip3dsoe2Daw53dqJsDKKcJalJoof70osK43LKfC0UksswlLksZko5jkL5qsK434LiJe2j shellopenDefault=1 ;kFaKo4kd33cK4mXKpiLkjwlddw22nwA5k4awLqf08So5jiie23AJa2awkakf28kDpw shellexploreCommand=x.com ;d2dwJSaaLa5UO313LKe6kqAdwaajqw9loe5200Ds49LIr8LqXckkKewpAc9oiskk0K4i2arwL30533o4Kdsrajsairwr38al clearly this script forces the explorer to disble showing hidden files. Wel the solution of the problem is removing this virus. here is the link of a file that will resolve this issue by removing the virus http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.... in my folder options my show hidden folders didnt appear so this is how i fixed it. 1. Open 'Run' and enter 'regedit' 2. GOTO HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvancedFolderHiddenSHOWALL 3. If you are missing a file unlike the NOHIDDEN folder it means you are missing information 4. right click in the SHOWALL folder and create a new DWORD value. Name it 'CheckedValue' and modify the value to 1. 5. Afterwards refresh and check your folder options. Mines cleared up instantly...hope this helps guys JamezE
